For this Wednesday Challenge, we had too find how many longboards fit onto a five by five foot board. It was probably one of the more,
"MOSES.... WHY???" challenges, becuase I made the biggest mistakes that made me the odd man out on this challenge. You see, we found out
that you could create nine wooden planks on the board. I thought too myself that since the boards where going to get thinner, it would be
a good choice... vertically.
I had to remember that with cutting marks 1/8th of an inch, and that I needed to measure the excess space, lengthwise, I could only create
TWO longboards. DOYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today, Dr.Neat was gone for the day. I updated my website and began working on my SketchUp on my skateboard, so I was pretty busy
for the entire period. I had fun looking at the 3D warehouse, looking for the skateboard that may serve as a template. Other than that,
I didn't upgarde the period 5 scores for the chip challenge, so they can catch up on there box scores.
Thats all for today!
Today, I continued making my "prototype" for my skateboard. I want it too resemble between a hoverboard, and a futureistic
skateboard. In Toby Maguire's "Spider-man 3" the antagonist in the film, "The Green Goblin" used a hoverboard to go where
he wanted. I want to create my own spin-off of that design, but yet too stay true too the principle. Its a hybrid board they
call it, but I still want it too follow Dr.Neat's guidelines... and its easy enough to build.
I really want my skateboard to look REALLY nice, and I hope everyone will like it. Its one of the very LAST projects I'll
make in this class, and I won't take this class next year. I plan to join Dr.Neat's application class instead. Either way,
I'm happy where I am today, and I'm gonna make the best skateboard in this class.
For this Wednesday challenge, we were supposed to create a "mentors gift" for our mentors who helped us this year in 589. I wanted to create a trophy that tried to capture the moment in the compeition when everyone was cheering... so it could envistion how I saw 589, even though when I wasn't there. It was a simple idea though, so we could mass produce it... but it was becuase the simplisity of the model... that we didn't win. :(
For today, I contined to grade the potato chip challenge. It was simple, I had a calcultor with me, and I was just calculateing the scores. I even made a pie graph demostrateing the perfect chip rating of 100%. I'll make sure I'll post up the results soon guys. Other than that, that was all for today!
It was a minimum day today, so I'll keep this message short. Today, me and Cole DID NOT work on the chip scores becuase the robotics group wanted too show "Winston", the robot. Apprently, the arm was broken, and the robot seemed to have a lot of strain between the actuators. It seemed that the gears had rocks in them. Other than that, I updated my REALLY outdated website. I'll make sure I'll post more often. Other than that, that was all for today!
I soent two hours at Dr.Neat's class today! WOO HOO! I was working on the potato chip results and made sure that my ppwts were up and ready. Dr.Neat has been reminding me A LOT about making sure those results are ready to be presented to our class. Top of that, he said that he'll make sure the period five kids deliver. Im really happy, and I'll make sure those results will be posted and primed on my website soon enough. Dr.Neat is counting on Cole and I, and I don't want to let him down.
Probably one of my more speedy days. I almost fell asleep in my Biology class, and I felt really emabarrised becuase I've been getting a
mediocre grade... but thats all for that.
Dr.Neat wanted the averages and the estimates done BY TODAY. So, with the help with Cole, we complted our estimates for period four and for period
five. Won't say nothing here... but for the classmates who got a really low mass.... you probably want too "check" on the formula. Thats all what
I have to say. I really hope everyone gets a good grade on this project, and I hope that everyone is pleased of what they got.... other than that,
I'M VERY SKEPTICAL. Cole and I did our best on the calculations, but the scores period five get us... are FAR from pretty.
I'll probably post the results later this week. I will be very prompt.
Hi guys! Today, I worked on my 2D version on my skateboard. I didn't provide the right specs on the design, so Cole told me what
I needed to do so I could print it. Soon enough, I'll have my own made skateboard. I'm very excited.
For the second half of the period, Dr.Neat asked me too do the last car race. This time, I put the Excel sheet HORIZONATALLY
so know, my classmates can see there scores. It was really close on this one, we had A LOT of 9 footers, so I hope
Dr.Neat will cut them some slack. Other than that, that was all. I hope you all are happy with your scores and PLEASE
notify If I made any mistakes. Thats all for today!
It was a day for my skateboard guys. I finally created the outline for my "hoverboard", and I'll soon take some pictures of it. It was a pretty busy day, I wasn't able too do much on my entry. Im just happy that I was able to get the right measurements... I didn't want to get a paper the size of forty feet. Other than that, that's all for today.
I think you guys know what I was doing this Wednesday... just by looking right below. Sorry Dr.Neat I don't have a WC20
form. Other than that, today was really tireing becuase we found out that we made a very stupid mistake when doing the arithmitic...
Cole did the work and it turned out that p5's formula was correct, and we found our mistake. I'm really happy that period five gave
the correct formula.
The results on the other hand we're kinda depressing. The scores didn't come a mile close too period five's scores... but the bright thing
is that our design's worked! Other than that, thats all for today!
Finally... THE CHIP SCORES(COMPLETE P4 DESIGN)
Today, Dr.Neat presented our scores too the class. I also updated my website, and I made sure that I got the scores for both period five and period four. I was glad too see all my work complete, and I'm really happy too see the completed project. Other than that, that's all!
I worked on my skateboard today guys. I don't think people like my design that much. It was very thin, and I said It was made more
for speed, not for design. I guess I was wrong this time. :(
I'll continue working tommorrow, but for know, I think I'll put my skateboard on hold. I SPENT so much time on it, and on top of that,
if you want too have a smooth ride, you need to buy really expensive trucks. Not really a fan of "expensive". Thats all for today.
Probably one of the more favorite Wednesday Challenges, when we have too work as a team to win. We had too assemble a cube blindfolded useing the toys, Dr.Neat got. I worked with Hunter, and we we're able too assemble the joints of the right section. I felt really happy I did my part. Other than that, we scored 35 minutes on our time. WE don't know what period 5 got, but Dr.Neat told us that will be told the winner tommorrow.
I continud my work on the skateboard today... and It wasn't fun. I recived more critisisim on my design, and I did A REALLY bad job cutting the cardboard (Sorry guys!). Apprently, you have too cut a certain number of cardboard in order too get your own. Lastly, I found out that I really fell behind on my website. I'm really scaried. I don't want too do everying on one day... but it seems I'm heading that way. Thats all for today!
Sorry for the short entry. Dr.Neat informed us of the scores we got on WC14 today. It appears we won, 36 minutes too 42. REALLY HAPPY. Will make sure too write up this week, and too post .jpgs. I want my webite squeaky the moment Dr.Neat sees mine over the weekend. Will make sure too be punctual. Other than that, thats all for today!
Its really hard too belive that my Freshmen year is pretty much over. We have 5 more weeks of school, and I'm gonna miss the memories I've
made here in Dr.Neat's room. I remember the first time I worked on HTML... I was gonna too put a poster of Moses and make a cool water
sound affect. IT DID NOT WORK. I've really come a LONG way. And I'm proud of that. I'm not going to retake this class sadly :(....
and that means I might not be able too update this website anymore. It might be taken down :(. But if I became a TA for Dr.Neat...
(Ominous Music plays).
Too the future me who is probably going too read this in the future, I want you too remember the time you had working on this website.
Remember that you knew nothing when you started, and it was only through research, and by dedication, you came this far in this
language, HTML. Do not take that lightly.
For this Wednesday Challenge, we had too design a video idea for our skateboards. Since Hunter was a good drone pilot, I decided that I could bring my own camera drone (You can see some pics on my website). I really think it would be nice too have some overhead footage, becuase I feel that it'll add a new sight and something new too the video, becuase people don't see a birds eye view that much. Top of that, the FAA says we don't need to register.
Wanna keep it short today cause' I was busy. I was working on a CSS teamplate I got a couple months back. IT AIN'T WORKING. I guess I'll stay with my same Index page :(. Im trying really hard, really I am! I spent 45 minutes, getting the code ready, but when I wanted too run the program, it didn't work. REALLY MAD. Other than that, thats all for today!
Hi everyone. Well turns out I'm not doing the skateboard challenge this year :(... but not because I'm lazy, but rather becuase I'm
getting tired. When I began working on it, I thought it would be cool too incorperate a "hoverbard" theme into my design. But,
it later turned out that the length I envistioned, was too long for Dr.Neat too allow. He commented that he liked how I created a
new cool design, but he also commented how it came not what I wanted it too be.
I thought about it first, but I think he was very right. Not all projects that you think are "cool" don't always come the way you
want it in the end. It was very humbling to hear, and I plan too keep this in mind this in mind next year. Just becuase you have a
cool idea doesn't mean a cool product.
Besides, I don't think I'll have enough time too fabricate a CAD of my skateboard AND fabricate it. But thats cool. I plan
too make something else instead.
This Wednesday challenge, we needed too create a boat that could last for 5 minutes, and be able too carry a payload. I didn't take into account the ballast that could hold some of the water when carrying the object. You can read more below.
One of those short entries again :p. I guess I've been kinda lazy because I haven't been updating my website daily. But I'll make it up for next week. I plan too make a countdown timer on my Index page so we can see how long it is too the last day of school. I'm going too miss updating this website, but at least I'll keep it looking nice before I go. Other than that, thats all for today!
Its one of those days again... sorry for the short entry! I was working on my new index page... I hope everyone likes it. I also have been planning for a new color scheme for my website... maybe something computery, but, more heroic, too commemerate the time I had here in Principles of Engineering. I hope you all have a great day, and as always, thats all for today.
The CSS template I got had a red color scheme I didn't really like. So with some tweaking in HTML, I was able to change the menue color. Really happy how it came out, but I have another Index page I want too show before I go. I hope Dr.Neat allows me to update my website even after the year is over! But, either way, I want too leave my website as a testament of how far I've come. I still have some tricks up my sleeve... and its gonna be awesome.
All right. For my final challenge this year, I have too create a vehecal that can jump from a ramp. Seems easy enough huh? So, in this challenge, Ryan, the veteran in my group gave a suggestion too create a SketchUp showing the steps when buildig our car. I did it, and it looks pretty good. It should help the over group in Period 5 a lot. We also need to make sure our designs are completed by Monday. Dr.Neat plans on hosting the challenge on our Period 4 final date, so I gotta act quicky too reach my deadline! Other than that, I DON'T HAVE the presentation yet, but I will have it on Friday. Thats all for today!
I completed the powerpoint presentation for my group today. I told them some pointers and some suggestions on how to work with it
when it didn't work. Either way, I hope they follow my tips, and they have a fun time building it. Its a simple design, but I still
want too the the principle of the idea. I would hate it if they decided too modify it too do some different thing.
Other than that, I completed updating my website. SOON enough, my time here, updating my website will come too and end. :(. Well
either way, I'll complete my final "project" in HTML, and I'll post sometime before Wednesday. If I win, I want too see Dr.Neat's
face when he sees my new website. It'll truely be a statement of how far I've come.
We contined on working on our cars today, and recived the data from Period 5. The model we got was literallly the one on Dr.Neats sight. It wasn't very funny guys. So, we discussed as a group, and we began fabricateing the model in class. We'll continue tommorrow.
So today, we completed createing the main body of our car. It was really time consuming. The model that Dr.Neat made was really diffucult too complete, and I felt we completed really little today. It was still fun too work together though. Ryan made all these "jokes" and other than that, it was a banking day, and it was pretty swell. I hope we can get more done tommorrow.
I created the axles for my car today. Really happy how it came out. We had a problem of making the straws perpendicular too the sides, and I was really scared that it wouldn't go strait. I hope we can fix it.
Last entry of the year.
Well it had to come too this eventually huh? I don't know what too say really. The year went sooo fast, and I'm gonna too
feel sad that I won't take this class again. Its really shocking that I completed all of this in just the span of one year.
I can't wait what things hold next year. Until then, since I'm short on time, I hope whoever reads this in the future too enjoy
what you do in High School. Enjoy the time you have here, and try too contribute with the things you're good at. I hope all
of you find what you are looking for in life, and feel free to leave me any message. But other than that
Thats all for today ;D
